Description
The C1 is a short sloyd knife for roughing out and general whittling. Its 60 mm blade is 1066 high-carbon steel hardened to 57–59 HRC, 2 mm thick and 14 mm wide, with a 20° Scandi grind that rides flat on the wood for controlled cuts. The 105 mm ash handle is oiled and shaped to fill the palm.
BeaverCraft sharpens its carving tools to a 20° bevel for soft woods such as basswood and recommends against using them on hardwoods, where the fine edge dulls quickly. Carbon steel will rust if left wet, so wipe it dry and oil it between sessions. Weight is about 42 g.
