Description
The Nakaya Die-Hard is the most common type of saw in Japanese workshops and on Japanese job sites: a single-edged kataba for general woodcutting. The 250 mm blade is 0.5 mm thick with 22 teeth per 30 mm, a pitch that balances speed with a clean finish in softwoods, hardwoods and plywood. The teeth are impulse hardened, so they stay sharp several times longer than untreated teeth.
Because the blade has no spine, you can saw as deep as you like, and swapping a worn blade takes a one-touch action with no tools. Pale wooden handle; genuine Nakaya Die-Hard 250 replacement blades are sold separately.
Nakaya Saw Co. has been making saws in Sanjo, Niigata, since 1925 and specializes in replaceable-blade designs: when the teeth finally dull, you fit a genuine Nakaya replacement blade rather than attempting to resharpen it. Made in Japan.
