Description
The Nakaya "Kaisoku" is a 240 mm dozuki, the Japanese backsaw used for precise joinery, tenon shoulders and trim work. A steel spine stiffens the 0.3 mm blade so it tracks straight, and the fine teeth (30 per 30 mm) leave a smooth, narrow kerf that needs little cleanup. At 240 mm it offers more stroke length than the compact dozuki saws while still being easy to control.
Nakaya tempers the blade with its own specialized technology for strength and durability, so the teeth resist breaking and the saw cuts smoothly over a long service life. Traditional straight handle with rattan wrap; the blade is replaceable and genuine Nakaya Kaisoku 240 replacement blades are sold separately.
Nakaya Saw Co. has been making saws in Sanjo, Niigata, since 1925 and specializes in replaceable-blade designs: when the teeth finally dull, you fit a genuine Nakaya replacement blade rather than attempting to resharpen it. Made in Japan.
