Description
The Nakaya BIG-2 is the full-size kataba in the BIG series, built for general carpentry and construction work. Its 270 mm single-edged blade is 0.6 mm thick with 16 crosscut teeth per 30 mm, a coarser pitch that clears sawdust quickly and moves through framing lumber, plywood and larger boards with speed. With no spine on the blade, cutting depth is limited only by the blade length.
The BIG series blades are made from premium Swedish steel and given Nakaya's "NT Hard" tooth treatment for long edge life. The straight wooden handle gives the classic Japanese grip, and the blade is replaceable (Nakaya BIG-2 270 replacement blade, sold separately).
Nakaya Saw Co. has been making saws in Sanjo, Niigata, since 1925 and specializes in replaceable-blade designs: when the teeth finally dull, you fit a genuine Nakaya replacement blade rather than attempting to resharpen it. Made in Japan.
