Nordlys FG Knife
The Helle Nordlys FG (Flatgrind) is the lighter, slicier sibling to the standard Nordlys, built for precision cutting and ultralight carry. It keeps the same 122 mm blade length and full-tang construction but uses a thinner, 2.1 mm flat-ground 12C27 stainless blade and a skeletonized tang to cut weight to about 100 g while maintaining strength. This makes the Nordlys FG ideal for food prep, game processing, and fine bushcraft tasks where control and slicing efficiency matter more than heavy chopping.
Nordlys FG shares the same overall shape and 122 mm blade length as the standard Nordlys, but a thinner 2.1 mm Alleima 12C27 blade and flat grind give it a very different, more nimble cutting feel. The slimmer stock, combined with a skeletonized handle and curly birch scales with vulcanized fibre liners, drops the knife’s weight to roughly 100 g while preserving a full-tang spine for strength. This balance of low weight and fine geometry makes the FG excel at slicing tasks such as food preparation, detailed carving, and field dressing, complementing the heavier Scandi-ground Nordlys 14C28N. A fitted leather sheath keeps the knife secure on a belt or pack without adding unnecessary bulk, making it a strong choice for weight-conscious hikers and hunters.
