Description
The Silky Woodboy Kataba is a folding Japanese woodworking saw favoured by professional woodworkers for crosscutting and mitre work. Its thin, flexible 240 mm trapezoid blade has no reinforced back, so depth of cut is unlimited and the blade can flex for flush cuts. The 26 non-set teeth per 30 mm leave a fine, straight kerf of about 0.7 mm, and the biconcave grind clears sawdust so the blade does not bind.
Cutting on the pull stroke takes little effort and gives great control; with care the finish is smooth enough to skip sanding. The blade locks in two positions and folds fully into the rubber-covered aluminum handle, so the teeth are protected in a tool bag.
