Hultafors 325 Anniversary Axe (Limited Edition)

The Hultafors 325 Anniversary Axe marks 325 years of continuous forging at Hults Bruk, the Swedish works where Hultafors axes are still hand forged today. The forge was founded in 1697 to make nails for the royal shipyards, and this limited-edition hatchet gathers up the best of the centuries that followed into one tool.
The head is a classic Yankee pattern, one of the designs ironmaster Ekelund brought back from America in the 1870s, along with hickory handles and new production methods. Those imports went on to become Hults Bruk's most popular and enduring axe models. With a gross weight of 0.6 kg (21 oz), the head sits in the light hatchet class that suits camp chores, kindling, carving and trail use. It is hand forged from Swedish recycled carbon steel produced with CO2-neutral methods, and the bit is finished with a premium grind: sharpened, polished and ready to use straight out of the box.
The colours tell the rest of the story. The green head recalls the Agdor axes Hults Bruk produced in the middle of the 20th century, and the red-dipped grip was a common feature on later Agdor models. The head label and the distinctive handle shape are taken from some of the oldest documented Hults Bruk axes, found in a catalogue from the 1890s. The handle itself is American hickory, treated with linseed oil.
The axe comes with a sheath made in Sweden from sustainably sourced, vegetable-tanned, full-grain leather, plus a leather key ring carrying a decorative ship's nail, a nod to the product that started it all in 1697. Overall length is approximately 40 cm (15¾ in).
