Lightweight Compact Hedge Shears — 500mm

The ARS K-800 is an ultra-light, compact hedge shear made in Japan for close, controlled trimming where a full-size shear is simply too much tool. At 500mm overall and just 550g, it can be worked one-handed or two-handed for long stretches without fatigue, making it a favourite for detail work on boxwood, topiary, ornamental shrubs, grasses, and grape vines.
Its gently curved blades and handles set the cutting edges at the optimal angle to the work, so cuts land where you intend them and the shears can be brought in close to the body — a real advantage when shaping tight forms or trimming inside a plant rather than across a hedge face. The 150mm blades are forged from high carbon steel and hardened to hold a keen, scissor-like edge cut after cut, shearing cleanly through growth up to 6mm rather than crushing or tearing it.
A chemical nickel surface finish protects the blades against rust and resists sap build-up, so the shears stay running smoothly through a long day in the nursery or garden. Shock absorbers at the handles soften the impact at the end of each stroke, reducing hand and wrist strain during continuous use, and the blades can be re-sharpened with a whetstone to restore factory-fresh performance.
