Sena Tufftalk Mesh (Over-the-Head) Earmuffs

The Sena Tufftalk Mesh (also sold as the Tufftalk M) combines industrial hearing protection with a hands-free communication headset, so a crew can talk normally on a loud worksite instead of shouting, waving or pulling off their earmuffs to hear. This is the over-the-head version, worn on its own with a headband rather than clipped to a hard hat, which makes it the right choice for crane and equipment operators, chipper and ground crews, sawmill and shop staff, or anyone who does not wear a helmet all day. The earcups carry a Noise Reduction Rating of 26 dB (ANSI S3.19-1974) and an SNR of 31 dB (EN 352-1:2020).
Communication runs on Sena's Mesh 2.0 Intercom. Tap the Mesh button and the headset joins Open Mesh, where a near-unlimited number of users within about 1.1 km (0.7 mi) of each other in open terrain can talk at once, with no pairing sequence to work through. The network is self-optimizing and self-healing: it constantly looks for the best connection and re-routes automatically when someone moves out of range or powers down, and with six or more users spread across a site the chain can stretch to 4.4 km (2.8 mi). Multi-Channel Open Mesh gives you nine channels, so climbing, rigging and ground crews can each keep their own conversation and hop between channels with a double tap. Group Mesh creates a private session for up to 24 people, and the classic four-way Bluetooth intercom (up to 400 m or 440 yd) connects the Tufftalk Mesh to Sena's other Bluetooth headsets, including the original Tufftalk.
Every conversation is full duplex, meaning everyone can speak and hear at the same time with no push-to-talk button, and Advanced Noise Control strips background noise out of your voice before it reaches the rest of the crew. Bluetooth 4.1 pairs the headset with a phone for calls, speed dial and music, and a built-in FM radio with 10 presets fills the quiet stretches. Audio Multitasking keeps music or radio playing at reduced volume in the background whenever an intercom conversation is in progress. Voice prompts confirm each setting, and the Sena smartphone app or Sena Device Manager handles channel selection, speed-dial numbers, FM presets and firmware updates.
The three-button layout is easy to find by feel with gloves on, and the microphone is a 100 mm boom that screws on and off for cleaning or replacement. A lithium-polymer battery delivers up to 13 hours of Bluetooth intercom or up to 8 hours of Mesh Intercom on a charge; a full recharge over micro-USB takes about 2.5 hours, and a 20-minute top-up buys roughly 3 hours of intercom time. The over-the-head Tufftalk Mesh weighs 354 g (12.5 oz), is rated for use from -10 °C to 55 °C, and ships with the headset, boom microphone, two microphone sponges and a USB power and data cable.
