Notch Oval 3600 lb Carabiner (Scannable)

The Notch Oval 3600 lb Carabiner is the current version of Notch's offset-oval ANSI-gate connector, now serialized with batch numbers and fitted with a Scannable data matrix. The headline number is the gate. Rated to 16 kN (3,600 lb) across the gate, this carabiner meets the ANSI Z359.12 and CSA Z259.12 connector standards used by utility and municipal arborist crews across North America, so it is an easy fit for programs that call for ANSI- or CSA-rated hardware. The gate is a double-locking, triple-action twist-lock: it locks automatically when released and takes three deliberate motions to open.
The frame is forged from lightweight 7075 aluminum alloy with an offset-oval shape that gives a wide basket at the top for hitches and lanyard eyes while keeping loads near the spine. A keylock nose clips and unclips cleanly without snagging rope or webbing. Major-axis strength is 29 kN (approx. 6,520 lbf), with 16 kN on the minor axis and 16 kN with the gate open.
The 25 mm (0.79 in.) gate opening handles rope, slings and most lanyard terminations, and the whole carabiner weighs 131 g (4.6 oz) at 124 mm (4.88 in.) tall. Finished in grey with a teal knurled gate so it is easy to tell apart from the other connectors on your saddle.
